WA Standards-Palooza Wenatchee 2026

In this hands-on session, we will share how we have collaborated as a Secondary Instructional Coach and 7th grade ELA teacher to trial implementation of the new writing standards in secondary classrooms. We will explore the major shifts in the writing standards, share real examples from Tyana’s classroom and other teachers’ classrooms, and highlight engaging ways to make writing instruction meaningful, purposeful, and student-centered.
Participants will be invited to take part in fun, interactive writing activities throughout the session and will walk away with a clearer understanding of the writing shifts, practical examples they can adapt, and engaging ideas for incorporating writing in their own middle school and high school classrooms.
